We can soon get our normal routines back and begin to decompress. Because let\u2019s face it \u2013 the holidays are stressful. It\u2019s extremely important to keep your heart health in mind during the holidays. These tips will help you reduce stress and to keep <a href=\"http:\/\/www.gethearthealthytoday.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" aria-label=\"heart healthy (opens in a new tab)\">heart healthy<\/a> as you enjoy this festive time of year:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Move it or lose it.<\/strong> It\u2019s important to stay active,\nkeep your heart health in check and avoid excess weight gain. Exercising for\njust 15 minutes to reduce stress and keep yourself heart healthy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Make meals healthy.<\/strong> Before you dig into all of the\ndelicious holiday\u2019s meals and sweets, keep your heart health in mind. Heavy\nmeals and sweet treats have extra calories and sodium, so try eating a healthy\nsnack before indulging to give you the nutrients you need.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>All things in moderation.<\/strong> It can be quite stressful\nworking holiday events into your normal routine. During these times you may\nfind yourself having to wake earlier or work later, but make sure not to\noverexert yourself. Plan your days ahead of time to reduce stress.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Drink responsibly.<\/strong> Most holiday parties and\nfestivities typically involve alcoholic beverages, but that doesn\u2019t mean you\ncan\u2019t still make healthy choice. Rather than choosing to drink a sugary\ncocktail, try choosing a red wine or club soda with your choice of liquor\ninstead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Relax. <\/strong>Make sure you make time to focus on yourself. Do something that makes you happy, like meditating, reading a good book, taking a long bath or cooking something you love.
